Photos

I have recently changed the way everyone will be able to view our pictures. I am switching to flicker so that instead of having to sign in (like with Shutterfly) you can just click the link and go straight to the pictures. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to view pictures. But I have only added the most recent pictures we have taken lately. It will take a while for me to add all of the others. Anyway, just click the link at the top right of this page and it should take you to a slideshow of some great new pictures of Ashlynn. (She'll be 5 months old on Monday!)

Change

There has been lots of change in our little family in the past few months. Ashlynn is growing like a weed. She has started eating baby food, holding rattles, reaching for her bottle, and laughing like crazy. She hates "tummy time" so she hasn't learned how to roll over yet...but we're working on it!

She is not the only one that is growing and changing. Virgil and I are also growing up in a way because we have recently decided to buy a house in Arlington, TN (about 20 minutes east of Memphis). They are supposed to start building the first of February and should be ready in May. This is a picture of our lot. It will be a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house with a recreation room upstairs.

Also, Virgil and I are growing in our careers because he recently became a CPA and I just passed my nursing boards and am officially a registured nurse! This spring will hold lots of new surprises as well as we undergo building a new home, the upcoming tax season arrives, and I begin a new job in the ER. So there has been a lot of change and growth going on with the King family. It has been a busy time, but also lots of fun and very exciting.

Discovery

Ashlynn has officially discovered her hands. Well, it happened a couple weeks ago I just haven't been on here much in a while. Anyway, she looks at them so much she makes herself cross-eyed. She also got a glimpse of her feet a couple nights ago, so I think that will be the next big discovery. She has also learned how to laugh. It's absolutely adorable. In fact, the night she laughed for the first time we decided we had to buy a video camera so from then on out we could get moments like that on video.

Oh, and we have great news about her little kidney problem. We had some tests done a couple weeks ago. The doc said he feels like she has just a minor blockage causing the hydronephrosis - and that it should correct itself on its own. We go back in 3 months to monitor its progress, but that seems like all we are going to have to do!

GRADUATION DAY!

Well, I can't believe it, but it's finally over! I graduated from nursing school yesterday and can finally say I did it! All I have to do now is take Boards in a few weeks and pray to pass!

I must say that being in nursing school and having a baby was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. I'm so glad I got through it. I couldn't have done it without the strength the Lord handed me every day, the daily and continuous support of my loving husband, and the encouragement from so many others.

Two month check-up

Ashlynn had her two month well baby check up today. He said everything is going well and that she looks right on track. She also got her shots today. I don't know who it was worse for - her or me. I cried every bit as much as she did. I guess that's what moms do. Anyway, she now weighs 11 pounds and is 22 1/4 inches long. She can already hold her head up really well, drools and blows bubbles constantly, and loves to grin at me and Virgil. She's trying really hard to laugh but hasn't gotten the hang of that just yet.

Well, I had an interview yesterday for an RN position in the ER at Methodist North here in Memphis. They called me about 3 hours after the interview and offered me the job and I took it! I start in January!
